Post-Ike Actual Reports from the Bahamas and Cuba....

After the passage of Ike, I worked with Don Causey of the Angling Report (www.anglingreport.com) to help compile a post-Ike assessment of possibly-effected Bahamas and Antillean fishing guides and operators.

Here are their "real-time emails":

From Great Inagua, Bahamas:

"Ezzard Cartwright like most of the residents here had minor roof damage, that is, loss of shingles. Two persons -one is my sister- lost part of her roof. At Morton Salt Operations the buildings look like it was bomb by an F-16 and we loss several catwalks at the Loading Facility.
It would cost millions to repair the dock and the operations building. Fortunately, we had absolutely no loss of life and no flooding."

Sincerely,

From Long Island, Bahamas:

"Jan, we're fine. Ike was further South of us. We had approx.50 knot winds. From Hanna around 40 - 45. Gustav was way out,we didn't have anything from it. I'm fishing Fri, Sat, and Sunday... can't wait."

Take care.

From "Provo", Turks and Caicos:

"Silver Deep is based in Providenciales that had minor impact from IKE, as opposed to Grand Turk. Silver Deep as usual properly prepared for the hurricane and luckily sustained no damage to the boats whatsoever. Silver Deep is already back in operation and founder Silver Deep today is bringing a boat full of supplies to Grand Turk in collaboration with relief organizations. Silver Deep office, booking and booking center are open for business and welcome any inquiry."
