Tarpon Action Continues!

8:00 a.m. was the last of an early dawn bite and I just went "2 for 6" on tarpon. The water is clearing as it cools and thin 30# fluorocarbon leaders are necessary. These very light leaders caused easier fray-throughs, even on "bowed-to" jumps. Just like the last few trips, there was a frustrating need for longer battles due to less line pressure called for on the thin leaders.

The tarpon are moving into the back bays with the advance of the cooler weather.

I may have to go to 40# fluorocarbon and settle for less strikes, but more released fish after quicker fights.

Anyway, two released fish ain't shabby and were in the 30-pound class!
