Captain Brian chose the ship channel area of Savannah for our second day. Our efforts were directed solely on the grass edges and rock flats on the incoming tide. The bluefish, mackerel, and redfish were abundant in the huge schools of mullet. On the outgoing tide, we switched over to the rock jetties and released more mackeral and lots of ladyfish. We had three huge fish cut us off and I released a 30-pound bonnethead shark.
Brian confirmed that all these blues and mackerel indeed travel south to Florida for the Gold Coast's famed Fall Run.
After that, we had a great late lunch of crab soup, grouper fingers, hush puppies and key lime pie.
